On December 8, Recommendations on Military-Patriotic Education were adopted at the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) in Moscow. The document was developed to establish a unified approach to educating citizens in the spirit of patriotism and readiness to defend their country.
The main objectives of the Recommendations are to foster a strong civic identity, morals and character, increase readiness to defend the country, and promote cooperation between educational, cultural and youth-focused institutions.
The document includes program suggestions for schools, universities, youth organizations and extracurricular education institutions, as well as methods for implementing educational activities and monitoring their effectiveness.
The Recommendations also state that it is advisable to amend legislation on the media to impose an obligation on state and municipal media outlets to establish and maintain sections with patriotic, as well as military and patriotic content, and to publish information of a military-patriotic nature (announcements of upcoming military-patriotic events with the date, place, and time and information about past military-patriotic events organized by state authorities responsible for defence, education and culture, and local government bodies).
