At his meeting with Ararat Mirzoyan, Sergei Lavrov highlighted Armenia’s active presidency in the CSTO
Ararat Mirzoyan and Sergei Lavrov, Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation, discussed a number of international and regional issues on September 5 in Moscow. “We cooperate closely within the OSCE and organizations in the post-Soviet space.”
“I would like to highlight Armenia’s active presidency in the CSTO,” Sergei Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, said in his opening remarks. “A summit is being prepared. We want to contribute to its success in every possible way,” the Russian Foreign Ministry quotes said Sergei Lavrov.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, during the talks Ararat Mirzoyan expressed condolences for the victims of the explosion near the Russian Embassy in Afghanistan and wished the injured a speedy recovery.
The parties expressed satisfaction with the close cooperation within the CSTO, EAEU, CIS and other international organizations.
They exchanged views on border delimitation and security issues between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The parties thoroughly discussed the settlement of Armenian–Azerbaijani relations and the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The ministers discussed the progress of organization of the state visit of the President of the Russian Federation to Armenia and the upcoming session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in Yerevan.
As you may recall, the Republic of Armenia is presiding over the Collective Security Treaty Organization in 2022.
