Sergei Lavrov Urges the Union State Committee to Cooperate With the CSTO and SCO
Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister, proposed the Standing Committee of the Union State's cooperation with the CSTO, SCO, and CIS within the framework of cross-invitations of heads of executive bodies to the summits of these organizations. He announced it at a joint meeting of the Russian and Belarusian foreign ministries.
"In September this year, the secretaries-general of the CSTO, CIS, and SCO signed a roadmap prepared by the Russian side on the development of trilateral cooperation and a Joint Statement on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the establishment of the UN. The practice of cross-inviting the heads of the executive structures of the CSTO, CIS, and SCO to the summits of these organizations continues. I believe that it is very important to involve the Standing Committee of the Union State in this kind of cooperation, if Sergei Glazyev, the State Secretary of the Union State who is here with us today, supports the idea," Sergei Lavrov said.
The Russian Foreign Minister also pointed out that the bilateral intergovernmental treaty on security guarantees within the framework of the Union State came into force in March.
