November 24 Is the National Flag Day in Tajikistan
On November 24, Tajikistan celebrates the National Flag Day. The date is included in the list of national public holidays and entered the calendar in 2009.
The national flag of Tajikistan is rectangular; it is divided into 3 horizontal stripes: red, white and green.
The upper stripe is red and equal to the lower green stripe in width, while the middle one, the white stripe, is 1.5 times larger. A golden crown adorned by a semicircle of seven five-pointed stars is situated in the center of the flag.
Red color symbolizes commitment of the people, freedom and independence; white means purity, kindness, moral and spiritual strength; green stands for prosperity, pride and eternity.
The crown in the center of the Tajik flag means power and sovereignty. The stars represent 7 historical and cultural regions of Tajikistan.
President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon addressed a congratulatory message to the citizens of the country.
According to him, the national flag is a sign of sovereignty, national honor and pride, love of freedom and the firm expression of the will of the people, as well as a symbol of unity, cohesion and the desire for freedom.
