The 23rd meeting of the CSTO Military Committee for the development of military cooperation among the Organization's Member States was held under the leadership of Valery Gerasimov, Army General, Chairman of the Military Committee and Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
At the meeting held via video conference, the participants discussed priorities for CSTO military activities for 2024 proposed by the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as challenges and threats to military security in the regions of collective security. They also considered the organization of air defence and development of the CSTO aviation forces. There were several reports on the use of forces and means of electronic warfare and unmanned aerial vehicles.
In addition, the delegations of the General Staffs of the CSTO Member States paid special attention to joint operational and combat training activities.
This year, the main activities will be joint exercises with Nerushimoye bratstvo CSTO peacekeeping forces on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as joint exercises with Vzaimodeistvie Collective Rapid Reaction Forces, Echelon logistics forces and assets and Poisk intelligence forces and assets on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. Joint exercises with units of Rubezh – 2024 Collective Rapid Response Forces of the Central Asian Region will be held in Tajikistan.
At the end of the meeting, Army General Valery Gerasimov noted the constructive nature of the discussions and emphasized that the results would contribute to strengthening military security of the CSTO Member States.
CSTO parliamentarians regularly monitor military exercises on the territory of all the countries of the Organization.
