The delegation of Kazakhstan at the 150th IPU Assembly session is headed by Yerlan Koshanov, Chairman of the Mazhilis.
The Chairman noted the symbolism of holding the forum in the territory of the Great Silk Road, the route that had linked peoples and civilizations for centuries. He emphasized that in the face of global challenges, the idea of the new social contract, presented by the UN Secretary-General, is becoming increasingly relevant. Kazakhstan supports its fundamental principles – justice and solidarity. Koshanov noted that parliaments of all countries can play a key role in its practical implementation.
At the international level, Kazakhstan initiated the establishment of the UN Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty. Yerlan Koshanov expressed sincere gratitude to his foreign colleagues for unanimous support of the corresponding resolution.
