On April 4, a meeting between Nurlanbek Shakiev, Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, took place in Bishkek.
The main focus of the discussion was the organization of the CSTO PA Council upcoming meeting, which will be held in Bishkek on May 19.
The parties reviewed the agenda of the Council meeting, as well as the organizational matters, including the program of stay of the delegates. The matter of fulfilling the priorities of the Kyrgyz Republic during its chairmanship in the CSTO was highlighted as an important goal. As one of the aforementioned priorities is the development of analytical support, earlier the CSTO Secretariat signed a number of agreements with Kyrgyz universities.
One of the important analytical events is to be held on May 16, in the lead-up to the Council. It will include consultations with experts, specialized agencies and special services of the Kyrgyz Republic, aimed at implementing priorities, including the facilitation of model legislation development and the drafting of specific Model Acts proposed by Kyrgyzstan.
As you may recall, in 2025 the Collective Security Treaty Organization is chaired by the Kyrgyz Republic. According to tradition, the Council of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly will take place in the country chairing the Organization.
Recently, Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, has also met with Alaibek Alymbayev, Head of the Administration of the Jogorku Kenesh, and Sergei Volkov, Rector of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University.
