The Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh said that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to strengthening the potential of the CSTO
A delegation of the Jogorku Kenesh headed by Nurlanbek Shakiev, its Speaker, took part in a meeting of the Council and the 16th plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
Speaking about CSTO’s presidency being transferred to Kazakhstan, Mr Shakiev expressed the intention of the Kyrgyz Republic “to contribute to the successful implementation of the plans outlined in the framework of the CSTO PA activities.”
Interparliamentary cooperation contributes to stronger cooperation between CSTO Member States as a whole, he said.
“It is necessary to continue working with them to develop model laws and harmonize national laws in order to promote partnerships within the framework of collective security. In particular, parliaments play a great role in the implementation of decisions taken by heads of state at the legislative level,” Mr Shakiev added.
The Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh said that Kyrgyzstan attached great importance to strengthening the CSTO’s potential.
“The global military and political situation and security threats can have a negative impact on interstate relations. Therefore, the demand of the present time is to increase cooperation to find compromise solutions and eliminate the causes of possible disagreements. We support the resolution of any conflicts only through peace and diplomacy,” the head of the Kyrgyz delegation emphasized.
The Jogorku Kenesh delegation also included deputies Elmurza Satybaldiev, Ulugbek Ormonov and Baktybek Sydykov.
As you may recall, by the order of the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic of November 22, 2023, Shabdanbek Alishev was appointed as the new Plenipotentiary Representative of the Jogorku Kenesh in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
