Tasmagambetov and Guterres Discussed CSTO’s Cooperation with Relevant UN Structures
On November 6, Imangali Tasmagambetov, Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, met with António Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General, via videoconference.
The CSTO and UN Secretaries General discussed a number of issues of cooperation between the CSTO Secretariat and the United Nations Secretariat, in particular, on the coherence of international steps to mitigate strategic security risks through preventive regional activities.
The sides also focused on the further development of working contacts of the CSTO Secretariat with the UN specialized agencies on countering terrorism, drug trafficking, cross-border crime, illegal migration, as well as peacekeeping cooperation.
Imangali Tasmagambetov and António Guterres also agreed to continue cooperation in combating the spread of terrorist ideology and propaganda and joining efforts in the field of information security.
