On April 19, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, and Sadyr Japarov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic, held talks with restricted attendance in Astana.
The bilateral talks were preceded by a solemn welcoming ceremony in Akorda for the Kyrgyz President, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit.
The Kazakh leader emphasized that the visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan has a special significance.
"Today we are signing a historic document – the Treaty on deepening and expanding allied relations, which will give a new impetus to the development of the ties between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan," said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
Mr. Tokayev pointed to the dynamic development of bilateral contacts, which, in his opinion, are powered by active political dialog and close intergovernmental and inter-parliamentary ties.
In turn, the President of Kyrgyzstan thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for the hospitality.
"There are no political or regional differences between our countries. Since the first days of my presidency, you have been constantly supporting me in international structures and in issues related to the expansion of Kyrgyz-Kazakh relations," Sadyr Japarov emphasized.
During the talks, the leaders of the two CSTO Member States also discussed the regional and international agenda.
