A CSTO CRDF exercise started at a high-altitude training range in Kyrgyzstan
A joint exercise with the CSTO Collective Rapid Deployment Forces (CRDF) Rubezh-2021 began at the Edelweiss training range in the Kyrgyz Republic on September 7.

A joint exercise with the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces (CRDF) of the CSTO Central Asian region of collective security Rubezh-2021 began at the Edelweiss training range in the Kyrgyz Republic. Exercise participants include servicemen of the armed forces of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, a group of representatives of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan and operative groups of the CSTO Joint Staff and Secretariat.
According to the website of the Russian Ministry of Defence, during the exercise the CRDF contingents will conduct joint planning and preparation for a military operation. They will practice blocking and destroying combat groups and detachments of illegal armed formations invading the territory of a CSTO Member State.
The core of the Russian military contingent at the exercise is made up of servicemen of the Tuvan mountain motorized rifle brigade of the Central Military District and personnel of the Russian joint military base Kant stationed in the Kyrgyz Republic.
A total of about 500 servicemen and over 120 units of weaponry and military equipment and six aircraft, including Sukhoi Su-25 attack aircraft and Mil Mi-8 transport and combat helicopters, are involved in the exercise from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The CRDF of the Central Asian region of collective security are intended to carry out tasks to ensure military security of the CSTO Member States, including participation in repelling external military aggression and carrying out joint counter-terrorist operations.
