CSTO PA observers will work at Russian parliamentary election

A group of international observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization for the elections to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation has been formed. Arman Kozhakhmetov, Chairman of the Committee on Legislation and Judicial and Legal Reform of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has been appointed as Coordinator of the CSTO PA international observer group. The group comprises representatives of the Parliaments of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Member States: Republic of Armenia, Republic of Belarus, Republic of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Republic of Tajikistan and the observer to the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia.

The group is currently engaged in long-term observation of the election campaign, including early voting, and will be present at polling stations in Moscow and St Petersburg and the Leningrad and Moscow regions on September 17–19, at the invitation of Valentina Matvienko, Speaker of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
