CSTO Collective Security Council Meeting Took Place in Bishkek
CSTO Collective Security Council meeting was held in Bishkek. Presidents of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan took part in the meeting.
The participants summed up the results of Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship of the Organization and signed more than 10 documents, including a declaration on security and decisions on the further development of joint security mechanisms.
Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of Belarus, described the developments in international relations as profound "tectonic" changes. He emphasized the growing role of alliance formats such as the CSTO in this context.
Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed the need to strengthen the military component of the Organization and pointed out that regular joint exercises improve the quality of training of the CSTO forces and respond to real challenges and threats on the western borders.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, supported the agenda on current issues of international and regional security and also stressed the importance of further improving collective security mechanisms and implementing the existing decisions in the interests of all Member States.
Sadyr Japarov, President of Kyrgyzstan, called the year of Kyrgyzstan chairmanship productive, praising the strengthening of foreign policy coordination within the CSTO and expansion of military and technical cooperation.
Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, said that in 2026 Russia will assume the chairmanship of the CSTO under the motto "Collective security in a multipolar world – a common goal, a shared responsibility." He also pointed out that over the past decade, the Collective Security Treaty Organization has become an influential regional structure.
Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan, supported the general strategy of strengthening the CSTO, focusing on issues of regional stability and joint response to transnational threats. According to the Tajik media, the agreements on furthering the joint fight against terrorism, drug trafficking and illegal migration, which are included in the decision package of the Bishkek summit, are of fundamental importance for Dushanbe.
Imangali Tasmagambetov, CSTO Secretary General, was awarded the Organization's Badge of Honour, I degree. President of Kyrgyzstan thanked him for the constructive, valuable work as CSTO Secretary General.
Taalatbek Masadykov, representative of Kyrgyzstan, will become the next Secretary General on January 1, 2026.
