Today, chairpersons of international affairs committees (commissions) of the parliaments of the CSTO Member States are discussing the international agenda and relevant issues of parliamentary interaction at the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation in a hybrid participation mode.
The meeting was organized by the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. The agenda includes a presentation by Andrei Kartapolov, member of the Coordination Council of Chairpersons of Committees (Commissions) on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States under the CSTO PA Council and Chairman of the Defence Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, who will brief participants on the results of the first operation of the CSTO Peacekeeping Force contingent in early January 2022 in the Republic of Kazakhstan and will suggest improvements in legal support for peacekeeping activities of the CSTO Member States.
Leonid Kalashnikov, member of the CSTO PA Standing Commission on Political Affairs and International Cooperation and Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, will speak about the development of foreign relations by the CSTO PA and measures adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly to prevent foreign interference in the internal affairs of the Organization’s Member States.
Gurgen Arsenyan, member of the Standing Commission on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia; Sergei Rachkov, Chairman of the Standing Committee on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus (remotely); Aigul Kuspan, Chairwoman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defence and Security of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Janarbek Akayev, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defence, Security and Migration of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic; and Saidmurod Fattohzoda, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs, Public Associations and Information of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, will deliver reports on the military and political situation in the national segments of the CSTO area of responsibility.
Sergei Ryabkov, deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, will brief participants on the Russia-US and Russia-NATO talks on security guarantees.
