Meeting of CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers was Held in Kazan
On June 10, a regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Collective Security Treaty Organization was held in Kazan, chaired by Sergei Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
According to Taalatbek Masadykov, CSTO Secretary General, following the meeting, the ministers approved three draft decisions of the Organization’s Collective Security Council: on the 2030 counterterrorism strategy of the Member States; on amendments to the instructions for protecting classified information of the organization’s standing working bodies and on the commemorative medal “25 Years of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.”
In addition, the ministers adopted four statements: on the 85th anniversary of the Great Patriotic War; on preventing arms race in outer space; on countering threats related to the use of information and communication technologies for sabotage and terrorist purposes; and on strengthening the role of international law and commitment to the principles of the UN Charter.
The documents were signed by Sergei Lavrov, Foreign Minister of Russia, Maxim Ryzhenkov, Foreign Minister of Belarus, Yermek Kosherbayev, Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan, Jeenbek Kulubaev, Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan, and Sirojiddin Mukhriddin, Foreign Minister of Tajikistan.
As stated by Sergei Lavrov, Chairman of the CSTO Council of Foreign Ministers, the signed documents will be reported to Vladimir Putin, President of Russia.
“Today, Eurasia serves as a platform for development of processes that play a crucial role in shaping a more just multipolar world order. First and foremost, we are talking about the emergence and growth of new global centers and their integration associations located in this region. It is evident that a polycentric architecture must completely and invariably align with the principles of the UN Charter, taking into account the diversity of modern cultures and civilizations, as well as peoples' rights to choose their own development paths and models. These exact values are the backbone of our allied cooperation within the CSTO," Sergei Lavrov emphasized.
As you may recall, the meeting of the CSTO Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs took place during Russia's chairmanship of the Organization in 2026.
The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly sees the results of the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers as an important strategic guideline. The Assembly will continue its consistent work on harmonizing national legislations, ensuring a reliable legal foundation for implementation of the agreements reached at the level of foreign ministers.
