Representatives of the CSTO and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization Met in St. Petersburg
On September 5, a working meeting between the Permanent and Plenipotentiary Representatives of the Collective Security Treaty Organization countries and representatives of the parliaments of the CSTO Member States took place in St. Petersburg, at the headquarters of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization.
Leading diplomats from the CSTO countries, including representatives of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan, attended the meeting, as well as staff members of the CSTO Secretariat and the Secretariat of the Parliamentary Assembly.
"Today's meeting confirms the importance of close cooperation between the statutory bodies of the CSTO and the Parliamentary Assembly. Joint work will help us to increase the effectiveness of our projects and create a unified legal platform for strengthening security and stability in the region," said Sergei Pospelov, Executive Secretary of the CSTO PA.
During the meeting, key issues of cooperation between the statutory bodies of the CSTO and the Parliamentary Assembly were discussed, as well as the development of the Assembly's 2026-2030 Action Plan, aimed at bringing closer and harmonizing the national legislation of the Organization's Member States.
Particular attention was paid to expanding cooperation with international organizations and increasing the number of CSTO observers and partners. The meeting participants also discussed the upcoming forum of the Chairmen of the Committees of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States on international affairs, security and defence, scheduled for February 2026 in Moscow.
The meeting was held at a high level and marked an important step in strengthening parliamentary cooperation within the CSTO.
