Anatoly Vyborny: Joint Roadmap of the CSTO, CIS, and SCO Marks a New Stage of Strengthening Eurasian Security
On September 3, Beijing hosted consultations between the leaders of the executive bodies of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Commonwealth of Independent States. The delegations were led by Nurlan Yermekbayev, SCO Secretary General, Imangali Tasmagambetov, CSTO Secretary General, and Sergei Lebedev, CIS Secretary General.
Following the discussions, the Secretaries-General approved a roadmap for strengthening cooperation between the SCO, CSTO and CIS, and adopted a Joint Statement on the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the foundation of the United Nations.
Anatoly Vyborny, deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Corruption Control, Chairman of the CSTO PA Permanent Commission on Defence and Security, stressed the importance of this step.
"Signing the roadmap for cooperation between the CSTO, CIS and SCO is an important step toward strengthening regional and international security and consolidating efforts to counter new challenges and threats. Joint work of the associations will create a new reliable platform for better coordination of our joint actions in defence and security. It will also facilitate further development and broadening of cooperation in the economic and humanitarian spheres. This document confirms our shared responsibility for peace and stability in the Eurasian space," Anatoly Vyborny said.
As you may recall, the Collective Security Treaty Organization the CIS and the SCO regularly work together to strengthen regional security and cooperation in various areas. In 2025, the three organizations are focusing on forming a new Eurasian security architecture, as well as developing economic cooperation and cultural exchange. The signed roadmap is aimed to ensure the coordination of integration projects and the harmonization of relations between development centres in Eurasia.
