Early Parliamentary Elections Held in the Republic of Serbia
On October 25, early elections to the National Assembly of Serbia, the country's unicameral national parliament, are taking place in the Republic.
According to the Serbian election commission, more than 6.5 million citizens are registered for the vote. About 115,000 Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija will cast their ballots in the districts of Central Serbia neighboring the province—the cities of Vranje, Raška, Kurshumlija and Tutine. Based on the election results, 250 members of the legislative body will be elected for the next four-year term.
As you may recall, the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia is an observer in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA). In this status, Serbian parliamentarians actively participate in the Assembly's work, engage in interparliamentary dialogue and exchange legislative experience with CSTO member states.
