Polling stations have opened in Serbia, as reported by observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
Voters will elect 250 deputies to the National Assembly for four years, as well as their representatives in 65 cities and municipalities.
Candidates from 18 political parties and coalitions will take part in the snap parliamentary elections. Municipal elections will be held at the same time. The Republican Election Commission (REC) reported more 6.5 million eligible voters in the country.
Polling stations opened at 07:00 local time (09:00 Moscow time) and will close at 20:00 (22:00 Moscow time).
A total of 8,273 polling stations in Serbia and 81 polling stations in 35 countries, including Russia (in Moscow and Sochi), are open.
The election results are to be announced within 96 hours after the polling stations are closed, i.e. by 22:00 Moscow time on December 21.
A record number of 5,587 observers, including observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, will monitor the elections.
