During the negotiations, Russian acting Foreign Minister Sergei LAVROV said that Russia is interested in Uzbekistan’s closer ties with the EEU and the CSTO, reports the website of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Mr. LAVROV added that Russian-Uzbekistani relations at this stage are experiencing an unprecedented improvement in all areas without exception. This includes economic, humanitarian and military-technical cooperation.
“The flagship of our cooperation is nuclear power industry, where there are special arrangements in place that are overseen by the heads of state. And, of course, education – there are many branches of Russian universities here. This is another testament to the closeness of our peoples and interests,” he noted.
According to Mr LAVROV, active preparation for the state visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Russia is currently underway. The visit is scheduled for February this year.
