The Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation stated this during the opening of the first meeting of the State Duma spring session.
“It would be right for the Committees on International Affairs, Education and Science, Culture, CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, as well as for our delegations to PACE, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and other inter-parliamentary structures to consider the issue of protection of historical memory as a priority in their work,” said Vyacheslav VOLODIN.
According to the State Duma press service, Mr VOLODIN stressed that everything must be done within the parliamentary dimension to protect those who fought fascism.
“It has always been important for us that history is not rewritten and the truth about the war is not distorted. There are invariable facts. But today we see policymakers in some countries doing everything to distort and rewrite history for their own benefits. It’s unacceptable,” he stressed.
