Russian peacekeepers will enter the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone to ensure a complete ceasefire
As reported by Kremlin.ru, on November 9, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Aliyev, Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Pashinyan and President of the Russian Federation Putin signed a statement announcing a complete ceasefire in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone starting at 12:00 a.m. Moscow time on November 10, 2020.
The Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia shall stop at their current positions. Russian peacekeeping forces shall be deployed along the contact line in Nagorno-Karabakh and within the corridor that connects the region with the Republic of Armenia.
Internally displaced persons and refugees shall return to Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent areas under the supervision of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.
POWs, other detained persons and bodies of the dead shall be exchanged.
All economic and transport communications in the region shall be unblocked. Russian Border Guard Service shall assist in controlling the transport communication.
According to the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, 1970 servicemen, 90 armoured personnel carriers and 380 other units of equipment shall be deployed in the region. The peacekeeping force shall mainly consist of the units of the 15th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Central Military District.
The troops will be transferred by the Ilyushin IL-76 aircraft from the Ulyanovsk-Vostochny airfield. Russia began deploying the contingent at 06:00 a.m. Moscow time simultaneously with the withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces.
