Viktor Khrenin: Fascism is alive because there are political forces in the world directly interested in it
“Fascism is alive because there are political forces in the world that are directly interested in it,” said Viktor Khrenin, Minister of Defence of the Republic of Belarus, at the plenary session of the international parliamentary conference Historical Memory: The Great Victory Obtained Through Unity held in Minsk, BelTA reports.
“One has to defend the main advances of Victory over fascism amid unprecedented attempts not even to rewrite or falsify history, but to undo it altogether. In May 1945, it seemed that fascism as an ultimate evil had been destroyed forever. Today, however, we see that fascism did not perish in a bunker under the Reich Chancellery and was not executed in Nuremberg. Fascism is alive because there are political forces in the world directly interested in it; interested in revanche,” said Viktor Khrenin.
“Justifying Nazism resulted in a civil war on the territory of Ukraine. Things should be called by their proper names. In 2014, the Western elites overthrew the legitimate government, unleashed the newly minted followers of Bandera and Shukhevych, and made Nazism a state ideology. Today, the punishers of the SS Galicia division, other formations of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army and the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists became heroes of Ukraine,” Viktor Khrenin said.
