Vladimir PUTIN and Emomali RAHMON discussed strategic cooperation issues in St Petersburg.

On December 20, Presidents of the Russian Federation Vladimir PUTIN and the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali RAHMON held a bilateral meeting in St Petersburg.
According to Khovar.tj information agency, a number of issues of strategic cooperation between the two CSTO member states were discussed during the meeting, as well as specific issues of international and regional situation.
The parties also discussed equipping the Tajik army with modern tactical gear and equipment in accordance with the adopted programmes.
Discussing the international and regional situation, the parties stressed the need to increase border protection between Tajikistan and Afghanistan in the light of the alarming situation in Afghanistan.​
