Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, met with Emomali Rahmon, President of Tajikistan, in Moscow on November 21.
During the talks, the parties discussed cooperation in various areas, including regional and international security issues.
“The official visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Russian Federation is taking place in a friendly and businesslike atmosphere. It fully reflects the nature of strategic partnership and alliance between our countries," Putin said after the talks with the head of Tajikistan.
The Russian President stressed that 2023 marked the 30th anniversary of the fundamental Russian–Tajik Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance. He also added that the leaders would discuss security issues, including the countries’ relations with Afghanistan, at the CSTO summit in Minsk on November 23.
As you may recall, the decision to hold the next CSTO summit in Minsk on November 23, 2023 was made as a follow-up to the previous summit in Yerevan. According to the statutory documents of the Organization, the final CSTO summit is held in the capital of the state that is chairing the structure this year.
