In his speech at the International Patriotic Forum in Volgograd, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, praised the lawmaking work of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO PA), particularly in the area of protection of historical truth.
The Russian leader noted the active efforts of the CSTO PA in this area and expressed gratitude to all those who contribute to the harmonization of national legislation and the development of model legal acts on the protection of historical memory.
Putin emphasized that the Parliamentary Assembly has already adopted a number of Model Laws and Recommendations on issues related to the responsibility for the attempts to revise and distort historical events and outcomes of the Great Patriotic War.
He pointed out that in December 2024, the Assembly addressed the parliaments of all countries of the world in connection with the upcoming Anniversary of the Victory, stressing the importance of preserving historical truth and countering the attempts to distort it.
The President also emphasized that this kind of legislative work contributes to strengthening partnership between the CSTO Member States, formation of a unified legal space and effective response to modern challenges, including information threats and attempts to revise history.
