On April 29, Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of Belarus, gave a speech at the International Forum of the Union State "Great Heritage – Common Future" in Volgograd. The Forum is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War and attended by the Presidents of Belarus and Russia and delegations of all the CSTO Member States, as well as the CIS, European and Asian countries.
In his speech, Lukashenko emphasized the importance of preserving historical memory and continuity of generations, noting the role of Stalingrad as a symbol of true heroism.
"Our meeting is not only a tribute to the common heroic past. We turn to history to protect not only the future, but also the present. That's what is at stake. We are the successors of a great generation, the generation of Victors and Heroes. We have nothing to be ashamed of and nothing to hide. This status entails many responsibilities, and annoys many people. We are opposed by the descendants of the defeated supporters of the Third Reich," said Lukashenko in his speech at the Forum.
The President of Belarus also expressed gratitude for the invitation and stressed the importance of preserving the memory of the Soviet people's feat, emphasizing that the event in Volgograd is not only a tribute to the past, but also the protection of the present and future.
