Vladimir Putin Arrives in Kazakhstan on a State Visit
On May 27, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin arrived in the Republic of Kazakhstan on a state visit, scheduled to last until May 29. The trip is of a strategic nature and underscores the exceptional level of bilateral cooperation between the Member States of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.
The visit’s agenda is closely linked with the meetings of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the Eurasian Economic Forum taking place in Astana. The two countries' respective chairmanships of key Eurasian integration bodies this year give special significance to these negotiations.
Today’s program began with an informal closed-door meeting between the leaders of the two countries in a one-on-one format at the residence of the President of Kazakhstan.
The official part of the state visit will begin tomorrow at the Independence Palace.
On the eve of the visit, May 26, Vladimir Putin published an article titled "Russia–Kazakhstan: An Alliance at the Heart of Eurasia." The article underlines that Russia is willing and ready to fully develop its allied relations with Kazakhstan. The Russiant President expressed confidence that the talks during the visit will give a significant boost to the partnership. He described his relationship with Kassym-Jomart Tokayev as "friendly and sincere."
