Vyacheslav Volodin Opened the CSTO PA Council Meeting in Moscow
Today, on April 20, a meeting of the CSTO PA Council began in Moscow, headed by Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO PA and Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
The event, attended by the heads of parliamentary delegations from the Organization’s Member States, is taking place at the House of Unions.
Opening the meeting, Vyacheslav Volodin outlined the agenda, which covers a wide range of issues: from global security to the harmonization of national legislation.
Foreign policy and collective defence take center stage on the meeting’s agenda. Sergei Lavrov, Russian Foreign Minister and Chairman of the CSTO Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, will also address the meeting. He will give a speech on the implementation progress of the priorities of Russia’s 2026 CSTO chairmanship.
Taalatbek Masadykov, CSTO Secretary General, will expand on the topic of security. His speech will focus on measures to counter current challenges and threats, as well as the implementation of decisions of the November 2025 session of the Collective Security Council.
The meeting will pay special attention to an important milestone — the 20th anniversary of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly. Aigul Kuspan, Chairwoman of the Committee on International Affairs, Defence and Security of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, will present the draft Statement of the Council marking this occasion.
In addition, meeting participants will discuss the further integration of legal systems. Anatoly Vyborny, deputy Chairman of the Committee on Security of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, will report on the progress of the 2026–2030 Action Plan on Approximation and Harmonization of National Legislation of the CSTO Member States.
