The elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation are scheduled for September 20
President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin has signed a decree appointing elections for deputies of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.
The single voting day has been set for September 20, 2026. Since the signing and official publication of the document, the election campaign has officially begun in the country. According to Russian legislation, a total of 450 deputies will be elected. The upcoming elections are particularly significant because 2026 is the year of the Russian Federation's chairmanship of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly pays special attention to ensuring transparency in electoral processes and protecting the electoral rights of citizens.
Traditionally, international observers from the CSTO PA work on a permanent basis at elections in the Organization's member states. The participation of the Assembly's monitoring missions contributes to the strengthening of democratic institutions and confirms the commitment of the CSTO states to holding open and legitimate elections in strict accordance with national legislation and international standards.
