Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of Kazakhstan, addressed his compatriots on the festive date.
“The Declaration on State Sovereignty of Kazakhstan opened the way to our sacred Independence. Therefore, this document is of historic significance. Since 2022, we have been celebrating the Republic Day in a new way; it received the status of a national holiday. I am confident that this endeavor will be widely supported in our society and will become a good tradition. The Republic Day is a cheerful holiday designed to raise the spirits of the people, strengthen statehood, consolidate our unity and solidarity. We have begun to build a Just Kazakhstan. This ambitious goal can only be achieved with the active participation of all Kazakhstanis, because the citizens are the main pillar and the greatest wealth of the state!” Mr. Tokayev declared.
The President noted that the Republic Day should become a symbol of the country's big step towards statehood.
The Republic Day was declared a national holiday in October 1995 and has not been celebrated since 2009. However, in 2022, at the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, it received the status of a national holiday again.
