Hayk Sargsyan: It is important for Armenia to participate in CSTO Forces’ exercises
“I am glad that the Armenian Armed Forces participate in these events. This participation is very important for our country,” noted Hayk Sargsyan, a deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, commenting on the participation of the Armenian Armed Forces’ contingent in the CSTO Collective Rapid Deployment Force exercise Vzaimodeistvie 2021. “I hope that next year’s Vzaimodeistvie will be conducted on Armenian territory as part of our country’s presidency in the CSTO,” said Hayk Sargsyan.
He participated in the active phase of the joint exercise of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) at the Kharb-Maidon training ground in the Republic of Tajikistan as a member of a group of representatives of the Coordination Council of Chairpersons of Committees (Commissions) on Defence and Security of the Parliaments of the CSTO Member States under the CSTO PA Council led by Rustam Shohmurod, Chairman of the Coordination Council and Chairman of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli Committee on Law, Order, Defence and Security, who conduct military and political monitoring of the situation in the CSTO Central Asian collective security region.
The parliamentarians closely monitored the active phase of the exercise, during which the CSTO Collective Forces eliminated a border conflict on the territory of an abstract CSTO Member State, examined the equipment and weapons used in the exercise and met with the command and staff of the CSTO CRDF.
Parliaments of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Member States – the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tajikistan – participate in the Vzaimodeistvie 2021 exercise.
As you may recall, one of the areas of parliamentary monitoring of the military and political situation in the CSTO collective security regions is the participation of parliamentarians as observers in joint exercises of the CSTO Troops (Collective Forces) to identify needs for improving the regulatory support for the military security of the CSTO Member States.
