Viktor Bondarev: CSTO States’ forces complement each other in ensuring security
Colonel General Viktor Bondarev, Chairman of the Committee on Defence and Security of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, said the exercise of the Collective Security Treaty Organization’s Collective Forces has great importance for the CSTO.
“Here we can see whose states’ armed forces have advanced, where we are lagging behind in training, we are all improving and complementing each other,” the parliamentarian noted. “The personnel undergoes training and, practically, one commander leads different armed forces, from different states. This brings results. Today we have once again seen this with our own eyes.”
As Viktor Bondarev noted, “Russian, Tajik, Belarusian and Kazakh forces worked in harmony: everyone worked under common leadership. It is important and it is a big advantage, because it will be too late to get the units ready and working together on the battlefield.”
According to the senator, it is very important that parliamentarians from each CSTO Member State are present at the exercise. Viktor Bondarev is convinced that “We should know the condition of the troops, know their equipment, see the level of their training and, of course, timely influence how to provide our soldiers and officers in, let us say, ‘hot spots,’ with everything they need, up to the last round of ammunition, so that they do not have any problems.”
Viktor Bondarev recalled that the better the equipment and the training of troops, the more soldiers will survive.
"Therefore, CSTO Parliamentary Assembly must in every possible way strengthen ties between parliamentarians, prepare and propose model laws for all Organization’s States, so that everyone involved is in tune, like in an orchestra,” said Colonel General Viktor Bondarev, Chairman of the Committee on Defence and Security of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation.
