As part of New Year festivities, the military base of the Southern Military District of the Russian Defence Ministry stationed in the Republic of Armenia has launched an athletic contest for military personnel.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation, week-long athletic competitions of military units are held in the military base garrisons.
During their days off, servicemen will be able to do outdoor activities, and the spirit of competition will strengthen the military units.
The servicemen will compete for the title of “best unit” in tug-of-war, distance races, chinups, 24 kg and 32 kg kettlebell lifting, power triathlon, as well as in arm-wrestling, ski sprints and biathlon. In addition, a mini-football championship will be organized between units.
More than 2,000 servicemen of the Southern Military District are taking part in the New Year events. At the end of the competitions, the judicial team consisting of physical training and sports instructors will award the winners with certificates, cups and gifts.
As you may recall, the Republic of Armenia will chair the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly in 2022.
