The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly wishes you a happy New Year!

CSTO PA takes stock of the year 2021.
Considering the role of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, as enshrined in the CSTO Charter, the most important focus of its work is to promote the development of the CSTO treaty framework and the harmonization of the defence, military and security legislation of the CSTO States.
To this end, the Assembly adopts recommendations on the synchronization of ratification procedures for treaties signed within the framework of the Organization.
Of the 59 treaties concluded within the CSTO, only three – signed in September 2021 – remain unratified so far.
Given the potential exacerbation of conflicts, the Assembly has intensified its work to improve the regulatory framework for ensuring CSTO’s military component and peacekeeping capabilities. In 2021, the CSTO Model Law on Peacekeeping Activities and Peacekeeping Forces was adopted.
Much work is being done to establish a regulatory framework for countering information security threats, modern combined forms of destructive influence on the CSTO States and ensuring their digital sovereignty.
In the outgoing year, the CSTO Model Law on Information Security was adopted.
In total, as of September 2021, the CSTO model legislative framework includes 72 legislative acts. Most of these were prepared with the direct participation of the concerned competent authorities and civil society institutions in the Organization’s Member States.
The Assembly works proactively, analysing the national legislation and constantly monitoring the military and political situation on the external borders of the area of responsibility of the Organization.
In his New Year greetings published on the website of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO PA and Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, wished everyone wellbeing and good luck: “Dear friends, I wish you a Happy New Year! Let the year 2022 bring you a lot of joy, let it be a happy and successful year for all.”
