Polling stations in Bishkek opened in the presence of CSTO PA observers
International observers from the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization for the elections of deputies to the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic were present today, November 28, 2021, at the opening of polling stations in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic.
The polling stations where CSTO PA observers were present opened on time. CSTO PA observers are currently monitoring the voting process at the polling stations in Bishkek.
“We are present at the polling stations; everything is proceeding normally; as of 8 AM (Bishkek time), the polling stations are open,” said Aleksei Sandykov, a coordinator of CSTO Parliamentary Assembly international observers and a deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia. “Everything is organized fairly well; right now we are observing how people are trying out the innovations introduced after legislative changes. Everything is going on smoothly.”
Kyrgyzstan’s Jogorku Kenesh election campaign includes 22 political parties competing in single electoral districts and 321 candidates in single-member districts.
54 deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh are elected under the proportional system (based on open lists of candidates of political parties) in a single electoral district, while 36 deputies are elected under the majoritarian system in single-mandate districts.
