CSTO PA observers met with the Chairman of the CCER of the Kyrgyz Republic
International observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly and their coordinator Aleksei Sandykov, deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, who are monitoring the preparation and conduct of the election of deputies to the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, met with Nurjan Shaildabekova, Chairwoman of the Central Commission on Elections and Referenda of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Nurjan Shaildabekova explained in details the specifics of the Kyrgyz electoral model, spoke about the progress of election campaign to Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic and answered international observers’ questions.
The CCER Chairwoman detailed the specificities of the current election campaign, in particular she talked about innovations in the electoral system, about preferential voting and the fact that the new rules and procedures of the Kyrgyz electoral legislation minimized the risks of misuse of funds and helped to prevent the mass rejection of mandates after winning the election when as a result not the people whom voters had elected get into the Parliament.
As you may recall, 54 deputies to the Jogorku Kenesh are elected under the proportional system (from open lists of political party candidates) in a single electoral district, 36 deputies are elected under the majoritarian system in single-seat electoral districts.
The election of deputies to the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic is scheduled for November 28.
