On January 21–22, 2020, at meetings of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots, and the Defence Committee, the CSTO PA Executive Secretary Sergei POSPELOV told deputies about the progress on the draft 2021–2025 CSTO PA Action Plan on Approximation and Harmonization of National Legislation of the CSTO Member States.
According to Sergei POSELOV, the drafting of the 2021–2025 CSTO PA Action Plan on Approximation and Harmonization of National Legislation of the CSTO Member States was supported by the CSTO PA Council at a meeting on November 5, 2019.
The current 2016–2020 CSTO PA Action Plan on Approximation and Harmonization of National Legislation of the CSTO Member States is close to completion (work is currently under way on the remaining 10 draft model legislative acts) and will be finished in 2020.
A new draft Action Plan is currently being prepared and proposals are being collected from parliaments, statutory and competent bodies of the CSTO Member States and partner organizations of the Assembly.
According to Mr POSPELOV, the CSTO PA Secretariat is summing up the received proposals and preparing the draft Plan for the next meeting of the CSTO PA Council scheduled for May 2020 in Dushanbe.
Following a preliminary consolidation, the draft Action Plan will be finalized during the Interparliamentary Hearings to be held in St Petersburg on June 18, 2020.
To date, a number of deputies and organizations have submitted their draft proposals.
However, as Sergei POSPELOV noted, the main work still lies ahead.
Mr POSPELOV called upon the heads of State Duma committees to use all available opportunities to tap the potential of competent authorities and academic institutions in drafting the proposals for the 2021–2025 Action Plan.
