CSTO Secretariat Called for Strengthening Cooperation with CIS and SCO
Trilateral cooperation between the CSTO, CIS and SCO has been put into practice and become the main tool for creating a truly equitable security system across the entire Eurasian space. Kirill Golub, Head of the Legal Department of the CSTO Secretariat, shared that in his speech at the thematic session of the CSTO PA, taking place at the St. Petersburg International Legal Forum.
In his remarks, the Secretariat official emphasized that the commitment to pooling efforts, set forth by the Collective Security Council as early as late 2022, has now taken on tangible form. Particular attention is paid to combating international terrorism and extremism.
According to Kirill Golub, the Organization is currently deepening cooperation within the framework of the standing expert group of the Executive Committee of the SCO Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS), the CIS Anti-Terrorist Centre (ATC) and the CSTO Secretariat. This allows for a prompt exchange of information on new developments and response measures. In addition, CSTO representatives regularly participate in meetings of the heads of CIS counterterrorism agencies.
"The effectiveness of this cooperation has been proved not only at the expert level but also in the field. In 2025, the Republic of Tajikistan hosted the Nerushimoye bratstvo 2025 and CIS Anti-Terror 2025 exercises, which took place simultaneously in the same location," Kirill Golub pointed out.
The official named regional border security, primarily along the Afghan border, one of the key priorities for the near future. Kirill Golub noted that making fuller use of the common ground areas between the three largest Eurasian organizations will give new impetus to countering challenges emanating from Afghanistan.
Apart from counterterrorism efforts, cooperation between the CSTO, CIS, and SCO on information security and emergency response has been growing rapidly.
