Senator Chizhov: CSTO, CIS and SCO Are to Fill the Security Vacuum
Vladimir Chizhov, first deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defence and Security, at the thematic session of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly at SPILF 2026, spoke about a wide range of issues pertaining to strengthening security in the Eurasian region
"In today’s world, characterized by rapid changes, a profound transformation of the international architecture and the acceleration of the entirely natural, albeit controversial process of establishing a multipolar world order, there is a clear security vacuum at both the global and macro-regional levels. To a large extent, it also applies to our Eurasian continent," Vladimir Chizhov noted.
The senator pointed out that today Eurasia is the intellectual and physical center for the formation of a multipolar world order
“The concept of the Greater Eurasian Partnership, proposed by Vladimir Putin back in 2015, is not limited to the continent security, despite its importance. The Eurasian Partnership is aimed to give the world a response to many global security challenges," Vladimir Chizhov emphasized.
He remarked that in the near future, the contributions of such Eurasian organizations as the CSTO, the CIS, the CICA, as well as the SCO and ASEAN, will be in high demand.
