State Duma Held the Final Plenary Session of the 8th Convocation
On July 27, the State Duma of the Russian Federation held the final plenary session of the current convocation.
At the end of the session, Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma, addressed the deputies with parting remarks. He called on his colleagues to continue the good work, doing everything in their power to promptly achieve the set goals.
As part of the final session, a meeting was held with Russian President VladimirPutin, who summarized the results of the current legislative term.
"Without any exaggeration, this is one of the crucial stages in the history of our Motherland, when the fate and future of our people are at stake. This is by no means an overstatement—this is the reality we face as the contours of a new world order are taking shape amid fierce competition," the President stated.
Vladimir Putin thanked the parliamentarians for their efforts in protecting national sovereignty and praised the unity among various political factions.
Due to the expiration of the current convocation term, the new State Duma elections are to take place on September 20.
To ensure the transparency and legitimacy of the electoral process, international observers have been invited to the Russian Federation, including the delegation from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, which traditionally plays a significant role.
