Anatoly Vyborny, Chairman of the CSTO PA Standing Committee on Defence and Security and deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, noted the role of the CSTO in combating terrorism in the post-Soviet space.
“The Collective Security Treaty Organization plays an important role in the fight against terrorism in the post-Soviet space. For a quarter of a century already, the CSTO has been comprehensively countering terrorist organizations.”
Referring to the State Duma’s work in this important area, Anatoly Vyborny said that our country is doing its utmost to eradicate the ideology of terror as such. For instance, State Duma deputies made amendments to the legislation, creating additional opportunities for taking prompt measures to counter terrorism. Criminal penalties for hoax callers have been increased, and recruitment of potential perpetrators of terrorist acts is punishable by up to life imprisonment.
During the autumn session, parliamentarians will continue working to improve anti-terrorism legislation, said Anatoly Vyborny.
