Anti-terrorist units of the Kant military base repulsed a simulated terrorist attack
Joint Russian military base Kant in the Kyrgyz Republic held a counter-terrorism exercise. According to the press service of the Defence Ministry of the Russian Federation, the soldiers repulsed an attack of conventional militants at the base’s checkpoint and also secured the perimeter and conducted topographic engineering of the access roads.
The training focused on ensuring concerted actions within the functional groups, setting up communication and providing first aid. On-duty servicemen, counterterrorism units and military police took part in the exercise.
The Russian joint military base Kant is located in the Chui province of Kyrgyzstan. As an air component of the Collective Rapid Deployment Force, it takes part in ensuring security of the airspace of the CSTO Member States. The air base is equipped with Sukhoi Su-25 attack aircraft and Mil Mi-8 helicopters.
