CSTO PA observers noted the high level of preparation for voting at polling stations abroad
Observers from the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly met with Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, as part of monitoring the election campaign to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. Aleksandr Rakitin, first deputy Chairman of the Committee on Defence and Security of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, and Farit Mukhametshin, deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, attended the meeting.
The observers noted the warm welcome they received in Russia.
Grigory Karasin, in turn, commended the participation of representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization as international observers, noted changes to the electoral legislation of the Russian Federation and recalled that there are 108 million voters in the Russian Federation; he also said that polling stations for the election to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation will be opened in 114 countries.
The Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the Council of Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation spoke about the course of the election campaign, drawing the CSTO PA international observers’ attention to “known facts of foreign mass media stirring up tensions” during elections.
During the meeting with international observers, Grigory Karasin expressed confidence that the Russian Federation does and will do everything within the CSTO framework to provide security in the Organization Member States.
In turn, Ravshan Rajabzoda, representative of the group of international observers from the CSTO PA and deputy Chairman of the Committee on Legislation and Human Rights of the Majlisi Namoyandagon of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, thanked for the warm reception extended to international observers and noted the high level of preparation for voting at polling stations abroad.
