The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly wishes a happy New Year!
2022 has been a year of radical transformations on a global scale. It is clear that security guarantees for the CSTO Member States are key to improving the situation worldwide.
In the outgoing year, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly adopted 10 model legislative acts. Considering that a total of 72 documents have been developed and adopted over the last 16 years, we can say that the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization has become much more active, and Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO PA, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, particularly noted this at the December Council meeting in Moscow.
The adoption of the Declaration on the Inadmissibility of the Development of Biological and Toxin Weapons on December 5 was another landmark event. Increased threats to biosecurity make it particularly important.
In the coming year of 2023, the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly intends to focus its efforts not only on ensuring security and stability in the CSTO Member States, but also to continue cooperating with other countries interested in strengthening security in Eurasia and beyond.
We welcome the decision of our States that are also members of the CIS to declare 2023 the Year of the Russian language. Being not only an official language of the CSTO but also a language of inter-ethnic and intercultural communication, it creates essential guardrails of security and makes us all stronger.
In his New Year greeting, Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the CSTO PA, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, wished everybody good health, new victories and overcoming challenges: “May 2023 be the time to achieve our goals.” The head of CSTO Parliamentary Assembly also wished happiness and prosperity to every family.
