On 9 December, at a meeting held in Moscow, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization adopted Recommendations for CSTO member States on the development of common principles for national legislation in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. These measures are aimed at ensuring national security in the context of rapid technological development.
“The purpose of these Recommendations is to formulate well-founded proposals on elaboration of general principles (directions) of development of national legislation of the CSTO member states in the field of the use of AI to ensure national security,” the Recommendations say.
The adopted recommendations are intended to form reasonable proposals for the development of national legislation that will take into account both benefits and risks associated with the use of AI. In this way CSTO member States will be able to respond more effectively to the challenges of modernity and ensure the security of their citizens.
