On December 8, Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, held a meeting with the speakers of parliaments of the CSTO Member States, who arrived in Moscow to participate in the meeting of the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly.
At the meeting, the parliamentarians and the Russian leader discussed issues of strengthening cooperation in the field of security and development of interparliamentary cooperation.
The Russian President stressed that parliamentary diplomacy plays a key role in deepening integration processes within the CSTO.
"The Parliamentary Assembly was established almost 20 years ago, in 2006, and has made a significant and serious contribution to improving and harmonizing the legislation of our countries on defence and security. I would like to single out the model law "On Countering Terrorism." It is one of the essential parts of the legal framework that allows us to make all the practical decisions," Vladimir Putin noted.
In addition, the Russian President underlined that the Assembly "traditionally contributes a lot to monitoring elections."
"In my opinion, this is very important for ensuring the stability of our domestic political agenda," Vladimir Putin said, thanking the CSTO PA delegates.
In turn, speakers of the CSTO parliaments expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to exchange views directly with the Russian leadership and confirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation.
