Developing Ties with the CSTO is a Priority of Russia's CIS Chairmanship

Since January 1, 2024, Russia replaced Kyrgyzstan as chairman of the Commonwealth of Independent States. 

Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation, announced the priorities of the upcoming charmanship. Among them are security, sovereignty, and economy. 

In 2024, emphasis will be placed on fighting terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and corruption. 

Vladimir Putin also stated the importance of "ensuring the coordination of integration processes in the CIS space", in particular the interaction of the CIS with the CSTO and the SCO in the field of security.

Russia intends to strengthen the Organization's authority and its ties with regional associations, as well as to continue working on joint efforts to counter external challenges.
