Belarus Celebrates the Day of the State Flag, Coat of Arms and Anthem
May 12 marks the Day of the State Flag, State Coat of Arms and State Anthem of the Republic of Belarus.
Congratulating on the holiday, Aleksandr Lukashenko, President of Belarus, emphasized that state symbols have become a part of life and achievements of the Belarusian people in various areas.
"For me personally, this day is filled with a special symbolism. Almost 30 years ago, on May 14, 1995, the first referendum in the history of sovereign Belarus took place. Back then, our people determined our own development path and laid the foundations of the Belarusian policy. These are strong presidential power, strategic alliance with Russia and equal status of the Belarusian and Russian languages at the state level," said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
This year, more than 5.3 thousand people from all over the country gathered at the celebration in Minsk.
Accompanied by the National Anthem, soldiers of the honor guard brought to the square the State Flag (a cloth of 10x5 meters in size), which was placed inside the "live contour" of the country - the artists lining up to repeat the outline of the Belarusian border.
