On January 10, soldiers and employees of the National Guard of the Republic of Kazakhstan celebrate their professional holiday.
On this day in 1992, the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kazakhstan were established. And on April 21, 2014 they were transformed into the National Guard, which is part of the unified system of internal affairs bodies of the Republic. The law "On the National Guard", adopted on January 10, 2015, consolidated the legal status of this organization.
The National Guard of Kazakhstan is engaged in the protection of important public objects and special cargo, escort of convicts and persons in custody, protection of public order, participation in other special operations to neutralize organized criminal groups and armed criminals, as well as other tasks.
The National Guard consists of the Chief Command, military units directly subordinated to it, four regional commands (in Karaganda, Almaty, Uralsk and Ust-Kamenogorsk), military police, special forces unit "Berkut", National Guard aviation and military units of civil defense. The Military Institute of the National Guard of Kazakhstan is responsible for the training of officers.
As you may recall, from January 1, 2024, the presidency of the Collective Security Treaty Organization passed to the Republic of Kazakhstan.
